Mystical Cypress Tunnel

The Monterey Cypress Tree is native to the Monterey peninsula.  They can withstand the cold and salt-filled northern winds of the Point Reyes peninsula and were planted as windbreaks around many of the 19th-century ranch buildings in the Point Reyes National Seashore.  Now the trees are a distinctive preserve in the grassy plains of the peninsula, serving as a respite for migrating birds blown off course during their annual trips to Central America and back.  On this morning, these wind blown trees were captured in the morning fog and the glow of the tall grassland creating a beautiful scene on a fall morning.

The cypress tree tunnel in Point Reyes National Seashore is a tunnel of Monterey cypres trees on the Point Reyes Peninsula.  The driveway through the trees leads to an old building that houses the Point Reyes National Seashore North District Operations Cenlter and the KPH RCA Radio Station.  As I was walking along thru the tunnel, the sun was coming up, and I noticed this gorgeous orange glow reflecting off the cypress trees and the heavy fog in the background and I was alll alone in this quiet and tranquil place.  I must have spent almost and hour admiring these magnificent trees and capturing this beautifu scene.
