Nature has always been a great source of inspiration for Larry Saunders since he was a young boy growing up in the hills and mountains of West Virginia.  He came to California  in 1983 and was awakened to a new kind of landscape, its beauty, wonders, endless secrets and vastness beyond imagination. He quickly began to explore much of this new wonder and beauty of the West and here  found his new, real love for the wildness, the peacefulness, and the solitude of the landscape.  Exploring the mountains of the Sierras, the deserts and coastlines of the West  his love for landscape photography began.  During that time of exploring and experiencing the stillness and solitude  he began to really see and feel the vastness, the wildness, the wonder of the creation of our planet.  Those years helped shape his inner self awareness and had a profound impact on shaping his creative expression through photography.

Photography is so much more than just what you see or having a keen eye or having good observational skills.  His images that are most powerful are not just the ones that were most cleverly constructed representations of what was seen at the moment, they are reflections of his vision and true essence of the presence in him.  When he is behind the camera every glowing landscape scene and every beautiful wild creature is a reflection of something moving within the essence of his being.

Now that he has retired, he is spending a large part of his days moving throughout the wild places of the mountains, deserts of California, the South, the Northwest and East coastlines, Highlands of Scotland and the mountains of West Virginia exploring those places that move in his inner self and allow him to create photographic images that would help awaken all of humanity of the awesomeness of our planet and inspire in all of our consciences the conserving and commuing of our earth.
